One pitfall to dieting success is to actually keep thinking in terms of dieting. We are so conditioned to equate weight loss with dieting, that this one is hard to avoid. But when we fixate on the idea of dieting, and all that that word conjures up in our mind, weight loss begins to feel like a chore and a burden and ends up requiring a lot more energy – both mental and physical – than it should. It is much better to learn to think in terms of lifestyle changes. This is a more positive focus and will yield longer lasting results in the end.
Another hindrance to weight loss is to procrastinate when it come to adding some exercise to your dieting plan. Diet alone is usually insufficient in helping you reach your fitness goals. Exercise alone, as well, is insufficient. But in combination with each other they are very effective in helping you lose weight quickly and safely. It is very easy to convince yourself that you just do not have enough time for exercise. But if you are serious about losing weight, then this will have to be a priority. It doesn’t have to be anything drastic. Even twenty to thirty minutes a few times a week will be enough in most instances to make a real difference. The key is to just get started and build some momentum. Otherwise you may never see the results you are looking for.
