Who would have thought that Africa, the continent famous for its famine, would have weight loss clinics? Nearly all countries around the world are facing the problem of obesity. Even in India, the sub-continent known for its undernourished population, have a high percentage of its women overweight.

Obesity is spreading to parts of the world that once worried about enough to eat. The health risks are enormous. Today’s way of life is less physically active than it used to be. Before our grandparents used to do all the households chores themselves but today everything is done by machine. People travel by buses or cars rather than walking. Even to go to the market nearby, people go by car.

Each week headlines are filled with its epidemics. In most of the countries around the world the government, especially the ministry of health is really concerned with that new-born tyrannosaur which is slowly swallowing the health of our healthy population. The problems is that we are putting emphasis on the symptoms only, forgetting the roots. Obesity is when a person is carrying too much fat for the height and sex. But why is the person overweight? The reasons are very complex-varying from country to country. The problem stems from the collision of modern trends: rising affluence and urbanization, the proliferation of conveniences like cars, computers, fast-food and television. In offices, people sit still most of the day and this means that the calories that they eat are not getting burnt off as energy. Instead the extra calories are stored as fat.

People make an unhealthy food choices. Not enough fruits and vegetable are consumed.People go out to eat frequently. But a generation ago, eating out was rare and life was tough, but they were healthy. But now people around the world are suffering from heart diseases, cancer, diabetes, hypertension. Obesity is becoming a global epidemic.

But should we stand and stare or at least try to do something. Government must impose heavy taxes on fatty food and health warnings must be printed on labels. Advertising on cigarettes and alcoholics drinks should be banned. Concerning children huge massive educational campaign should be launched about how to eat healthy food. Obesity, a global epidemic can be eradicated.

These days weight loss is perceived to have one purpose. To make you look better. And most people tend to forget that the other benefits are inclined to make you (much) healthier.

Obesity is a huge threat to a healthy and productive life. This has already been proven by many researches. However, many people are not aware of this particular reality. If you’re not fit, life will limit your experiences and joy. In fact, you may be robbing yourself of joy and countless unknown, happy opportunities right now.

In general, obesity means 25% and 32% fat for men and women, respectively. 20% of adults in America have this type of profile.

The issue does not get better with age or time. Average adults gain a pound a year, beginning the year after they turn 25 years old. Which means that they will gain a MINIMUM of 25 pounds – or more – as they reach middle age.

In addition, metabolism is indirectly proportional to age. Meaning, as you get older your metabolism slows down. The older you get, the more dramatic the decline in metabolism. Plus, sedentary adults lose a pound of lean mass each year secondary to inactivity, which depresses the metabolism even further.

Sounds grim, doesn’t it?

What are the dangers of obesity? Well, the process may begin as insulin resistance to diabetes to heart disease and cancer. The logic behind this is not hard to fathom. Obesity causes your heart (to need) to work twice as hard to pump blood into the body. This compromises simple body activities such as moving or breathing…

Eventually, your heart muscles can no longer sustain this heavy activity. Breakdown occurs.

High cholesterol is also closely related to obesity, increasing the risk of arteriosclerosis. Blood vessels get clogged and blood flow becomes restrained. Organ damage ensues and inadequate blood supply forces you heart to pump even harder. High blood pressure rears its ugly head.

Fact: Obesity is one of the major causes for 25% of all heart problems.

It gets worse! Most people know about the direct relationship of obesity and heart problems. However, only a few of them are aware that it can also lead to the onset of cancer. Men are at risk for colon and prostate cancer. Women, for breast and uterine cancer. Fat cells become a haven for carcinogenic toxins. Accumulation of such toxins can damage internal organs.

Weight loss is the only answer. Nothing else will suffice. Losing weight will allow you to decrease the risk of heart disease (and cancer development) as well as undo damage caused by excess body fat in your system.

Fact: If you lose even 10-15% of your body weight, it can improve your overall health, which decreases cholesterol levels and your predisposition to heart problems.

Lastly people who lose weight and get involved in regular exercises are eight times less likely to die from heart disease and cancer. But you probably already knew some of this, right? The benefits of a healthy lifestyle are exponential. Get started while you’re still healthy enough to turn back the clock!

Many people think that the reason that they are overweight is because they over-eat and don’t exercise.

This may have been true decades ago, it’s something else entirely today.

During the 1980s the aerobic and fitness fads started, plus “nutritional sciences” reached unprecedented levels from 1975 to the present day. During the 70s and 80s obesity statistics rose by 5% of people in the developed countries. In the last 15 years “medical Knowledge” has increased by 800%. Yet within a few years the statistics on obesity have jumped from 5% to 25% of the population in developed countries.

It has been accepted by government in the United States that some 40% of Americans are obese, and crucially, these figures have been recently revised upwards, with estimates suggesting that 55%-62% of Americans alone are now categorised as obese.

Despite all the advances in science, technology and medicine and our ability as human beings to understand what is happening in our lives a large percentage of people on this planet are obese.

The Worldwide Problem of Obesity.

A pattern has emerged that could lead to the true cause of this epidemic we call obesity.

When Asian and Oriental countries started importing red meats and dairy products from first world countries they started to see fatter people and also health disorders increasing.

10 to 20 years ago people living in these regions had less than 1% of the diseases that are major problems in the west. These include Heart Disease, Liver Disorders, Cancers, Strokes and learning and behavioral difficulties.

Nowadays the countries that regularly import red meat and dairy products, are now recording the same or similar levels of these illnesses as is happening in the United States and Europe.

At this moment in time Japan refuses to accept meat and dairy exports from the United States and they still have less than 1% obesity and less than 1% of the illnesses stated above. Research by the Japanese Health Ministry are convinced that the chemicals and preservatives that are used in the west are responsible for obesity and illness.

Before these products were exported to the Asian and Oriental markets those people were far healthier and less likely to develop all of the disease listed above. And yet the FDA in America and Food Standards Agencies in Europe tell us these chemicals, preservatives and antibiotics used in the food chain are safe.

Independent medical research, that is independent not paid for by agrochemical or pharmaceutical corporations, has shown that people in the United States who are not getting sick; Eat less foods bought from public grocery stores. Do not eat processed foods. Tend to grow there own vegetables organically. Use detox to rid there bodies of toxins. Drink and eat in moderation. Eat small regular meals at set times of day.

The research also showed that people who were obese or ill who had radically changed their lifestyles and went through a detox routine to get rid of the accumulated toxins became significantly more healthy.

Love Handles, fat legs thighs and buttocks, of fatty arms and armpits, could this be your bodies natural defense to these toxins and chemicals to build a fat layer to protect you?

So the question is if you got rid of the toxins and chemicals in your body would your body need this defensive fat?

If this was the case would you need the fad diets, starvation diets, expensive weight loss meals and supplements that contain possibly other chemicals and additives? Perhaps if by following a detox routine people would not need surgery to look good?

In Conclusion.

Research shows that only 12% of obesity and illness is due to people overeating, genetic predispositions and not exercising

We know this because lifestyles have improved yet obesity has jumped from 5% 20 years ago to 55 to 60% now. It seems that all these toxins, chemicals and preservatives have been deliberately put into the food and drinks chain and even into the public water supply.

The countries who do not use these chemicals do not have the obesity and illness problems that we do.

Family health problems and obesity made me look for something that would help my family and other people and you can look at my review here.

Obesity

As I continue to write, I continue to read from the wisdom of others. I especially like well researched scholarly works that gather and present facts that substantiate truths and beliefs as we struggle to find ways to justify decisions we make about life and health and wellness.

And so I read another well written, well researched article in the LA Times, this one, by Devon Schuyler, March, 22, 2010: “Obesity’s role in cancer. It may not cause the disease, but studies show a link between fat and certain types.” I hope you read it too.

I am neither a cancer doctor nor a reporter. Although, I like the facts, they reinforce my beliefs. I pay most attention to a picture bigger than isolated facts; i.e. that Excess Fat is related to and the cause of many obvious and provable health problems and is suspected to be the cause of many more.

I don’t need more indisputable facts to prove to me that Excess Fat is a health hazard. I don’t need a specific illness that I am most afraid of to finally be linked to Excess Fat to persuade me to Get “It”! I Get “It”!

Cancer Kills – Excess Fat Is Unhealthy!

Doing something positive and permanent about “It”, in this case, Excess Fat and for the rest of our lives is my main point of interest and expertise. We need research and researchers, from scientists who discover the facts to reporters, the disseminators of information, to continue to gather and broadcast the facts. We need our decisions to be smart and truth based.

I believe there is no doubt there are links between obesity, Fat and illness. I believe there is no doubt there is a greater need for wellness in our society.

Unfortunately wellness is assumed rather than earned. Wellness requires a proactive plan and lifelong commitment. In the short run, we pretend it is unnecessary. In the long run, it is our most viable solution.

We make the assumption that illness is treatable and necessary. We fail to connect the dots between wellness and illness. We know it but we don’t DO much about it.

We fail to take the absolute and necessary steps to assure wellness as our best, cheapest and greatest hedge against illness. We wait for illness by avoiding wellness, leaving the responsibility for our health and our health care to others and then complain about all it costs as we urgently try to clean up our negligence.

The information about Wellness is out there. Most of it is free, if only we look. Wellness is cheaper than illness but yet we focus on illness not wellness. Wellness is “airy fairy”, rather than our most obvious solution.

To your life, to your wellness, you are worth it!

I am a Personal Development and Wellness Coach for successful people; i.e. people, like you, who can DO what you intend to DO when you know What to DO and How and have the support necessary to Succeed. I began my professional career in 1971 working with addicts on the streets of New York City. I was quickly known as the 90 Day Wonder. It was a term of derision. They mocked me, knowing full well that I had no right to pretend that I knew the “Truths” of their lives or their circumstances. Thankfully I was smart enough to agree with them.
Read online: Fat's Role in Illness

They were right. I didn’t know their truths or their circumstances and what I learned in college didn’t teach me this either.

How in the world has how to cure anxiety got anything to do with being obese? Good question. I am wondering why most people are not even asking that question, as obesity is fast becoming one of the biggest health issues, for both the United States and Australia. Obesity is increasing as we are experiencing higher stress levels. People are trying to get control of their lives by turning to food for comfort.

Unfortunately, using food as a drug, to medicate the underlying anxiety, has had long-term disastrous results, as we are witnessing. Turning to food, becomes another addiction we do not wish to surrender, and just masks the continuing unease we are feeling. There are various ways to deal with obesity, and one way that may be effective, is to get to the underlying cause and learn how to cure anxiety easily and permanently.

Is anxiety causing your obesity? It can be insidious and can show itself in the form of overeating or constantly reaching for something to put into your mouth, without even knowing why. Maybe it’s time to ask:

Has food become your constant companion?

Do you feel as if you “must have” chocolate?

Are you making endless cups of tea or coffee instead of having water?

Are you biting your nails or constantly feel restless?

Do you feel like Attila The Hun, getting angry at the drop of a hat?

Are negative thoughts bombarding you, sending you to the fridge for comfort?

Do you feel as if you are on high alert waiting for some unknown thing to happen?

Are you constantly running around, no time to eat healthily or to sit still and calm down?

If any of the above applies to you, then ask yourself how long you want to carry on avoiding the real cause of your obesity. Isn’t it time to face the issues in your life, rather than run from them? Isn’t it time to learn how to cure anxiety and actually enjoy living your life?

Learning to recognise how anxiety manifests in your life, is the first step to healing your obesity.

Just because you are trying to quell your distress with food does not mean you should feel bad about yourself. How many of us do the same thing? Rather, congratulate yourself for uncovering the real cause behind your obesity. It is time to move forward and take steps to quickly, easily and permanently cure the anxiety and help yourself return to a healthy weight.

Infertility and obesity have often been linked among women of reproductive age, but what really is the precise relationship between the two? Infertility can be brought on by a lot of factors, and we’ve heard about so many women of reproductive age being advised by their gynecologists to lose some weight so they improve on their chances of bearing a child.

Obesity cases are on a rise all over the world. And so are those on infertility. Nearly 10 percent of all couples in the US alone are affected by infertility, and most experts have observed a major contributing factor – obesity. Just half a decade ago, 33% of American women were already classified as medically obese. And the figures continue to rise.

An individual is defined as medically obese if his or her Body Mass Index or BMI exceeds 30. That means that 30% or more of the body weight is made up of fat tissue. Obesity is also linked to several health conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, hypertension and infertility – both in men and women.

So how does obesity cause infertility? Obesity causes an increase in estrogen production among females which spurs a state of hormonal imbalance that interferes with the ovulation process. Ovulation is of course, the main process by which successful conception is based.

Disorders in ovulation are the leading cause of female infertility, resulting in hormonal disruptions, irregular menstrual cycles and difficulty in conception. Approximately 15 percent of these disorders are associated with weight issues, mainly obesity or simply being overweight. High oestrogen levels associated with obesity have also been observed to possibly result to pre-cancerous transformations in the uterus, although these can be treated if discovered early.

Medical history conducted on certain subjects also revealed that there is a higher incidence of amenorrhea among women whose obesity is traced back to their childhood years. Amenorrhea is a condition where menstrual cycles are totally absent, which means a woman with amenorrhea has never had a single menstrual period in her lifetime.

Overweight or obese women are also less likely to respond to fertility treatments since the excess weight act as roadblocks to the proper absorption of fertility drugs. Polycystic Ovary Syndrome is also more prevalent among overweight women.

The toll obesity can take on women does not stop with infertility. There is also greater risk of pregnancy complications among overweight or obese women. They usually are more likely to deliver their babies via Caesarean section, experience gestational diabetes and toxemia, and have higher blood pressures due to the pregnancy. Those who do not address weight problems prior to a pregnancy are also more prone to aborted pregnancies or miscarriages.

Obesity can be treated so overweight women can increase their chances at conception and go through a healthy and trouble-free pregnancy. One of these is to undergo a monitored weight loss program that starts with a detox or an internal cleansing. Most often, weight loss efforts turn futile because the body is loaded with toxins that bungles up the metabolic process and prevent the proper absorption of essential nutrients from the food we eat. The body needs to “reset” so proper and ideal functions are restored.

The Clean 9 Nutritional Cleansing Program is one such detox process. It is an extensive cleansing regimen specifically formulated to rid the body of harmful chemicals and toxin build-ups in just 9 days. As it detoxifies, Clean 9 subsequently refurnishes the body with essential nutrition programmed to restore proper and ideal systemic functions necessary for an effective weight loss process. Lose that excess weight and get in shape! Check out the Clean 9 Program at: http://natural-cleanse.com

Obesity is one of the major problems faced by different men, women and children in its severe form. If you are habitual of excess eating which results in heavy round ugly physic, you have to face psychological problems as well. A child’s personality breaks because he is mocked by other children due to his fat body. Similarly, a woman becomes a psychological patient when she is reminded her repulsive appearance time and again. However, it is not impossible to get rid from this obese problem nowadays. There are three main procedures which are utilized worldwide in order to get rid from fat problem.

The most commonly used method which is utilized worldwide is proper diet plan. Diet does not mean that you leave eating at all. Abrupt leaving of food generates the body to starvation mode in which the fat is used as substitute of food by human body. However, it creates another problem of physical and psychological weakness. Nowadays, low caloric foods are available in market and produced good result. Salad and grains also help to provide energy instead of fat. Excessive use of water augments the rate of weight loss.

Another method for weight loss is dehydration. Though it is a complicated task yet produces positive results. Many exercises are executed for dehydration purpose. Hundreds of running machines are available in market for dehydration through running process. Swimming and weight training are two other procedures that cause dehydration. Obese can also be prevented through yoga and breathing exercises which results in shaped body.

Third most common method for weight loss is supplement and medicine exploitation. Various companies offer different types of supplements and food products that cause rapid weight loss. Moreover, homeopathy also provides sufficient pills and courses to stem out obese problem. Different allopathic medicines are also available in market for this reason but one has to face side effects such as Nervousness, Irritability, Headaches, Dry mouth, Nausea, Constipation, Abdominal pain, Diarrhea and Sleep problem while using these medicines. Meditation and body massage are two other popular methods to make you free from obese dilemma.

I’ve been in your shoes. I’ve been obese before. If you want to know one of the reasons I decided to start changing my body for the better check out the third item on the list. If you’re obese, you’re carrying around a lot more than some extra belly fat. You’re carrying around very high risk for tons of diseases, social scrutiny, and extra psychological baggage. Here are just few things that are a direct result of a big belly.

Urinary Incontinence

Yeah. Believe it or not, obesity can cause stress incontinence. That means that every time you sneeze, cough, do any lifting, or do any laughing, you run the risk of leaking. Imagine being afraid just to laugh or having to wear embarrassing adult diapers just to feel comfortable.

You’re extra belly fat pushes on your bladder, pushing it more than normal. So it takes less of an extra push for urine to start leaking out. So it goes without saying that the more overweight you are, the more likely you are to have stress incontinence.

Psychological Effects

Obesity doesn’t just threaten your physical well-being. The psychological effects are more than enough to overwhelm a person. If you’re obese, you’re more likely to be depressed. And depression and obesity are deadly, self-sustaining mix.

Depression makes you want to sit around all day doing nothing. A sedentary lifestyle is one cause of obesity. Social stigmas as they are make being obese a stressful, and chronic stress can cause depression.

Premature Death

I’m not going to sugar coat this.

If you are obese, and especially a lot of your excess fat is belly fat, there is a good chance you will die earlier than a person who is of a healthy weight. Obesity comes with a slew of health risks including increased risk for about every type of heart disease and cancer.

Obesity is a major health issue affecting the United States today. It is reported that 31 out of 51 US states are reporting an increased number of the obese in their population, and another report made by the Trust for America’s Health indicated that two-thirds of adults in the US are overweight, and the children are coming not too far behind as well. What are the solutions to this alarming medical trend?

Obesity is an alarming public health crisis

According to most nutritionists and dietitians, an individual who has a BMI, or Body Mass Index of 25 and above is considered to be overweight, while those who have a BMI of 30 and above already considered obese. Obesity is a truly life-threatening condition. It’s often linked with so-called “lifestyle” diseases such as hypertension, sleep apnea, heart disease, diabetes, alcoholism, low self-esteem and other factors that lead to a lower quality of life.

Major factors that contribute to the rise in obesity

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), obesity is becoming an alarming global epidemic, and it’s estimated that around 2 billion people are either overweight or obese. Among the major reasons for the spike in the numbers of the obese are the widespread practice of sedentary lifestyles, which is also coupled by a major shift in diets to junk foods and carbohydrate-rich fast food fare. The WHO states that Americans are among the most overweight people in the planet, and the crisis shows no signs of abating, since more US states are reporting an increase in the numbers of the obese. Obesity rates among adults have already gone up by 20 percent in 47 US states including the District of Columbia.

There’s an alarming rise in the number of overweight children

The ever-increasing number of overweight and obese children is also very alarming. A report has suggested that around 25 million children in the United States are either overweight or obese. The southern part of the US has a serious obesity epidemic, and 10 of the 15 southern states have the highest levels of child obesity. Health officials admit that despite the increasing attention to this alarming health trend, obesity is still continuing to grow in the US. And while some policy efforts are being made to address the issue, the United States still very lacks a truly comprehensive program to tackle the increase in obesity numbers.

What are the best possible solutions for addressing obesity?

Most health experts have agreed that there has to be a national-level policy campaign to effectively combat obesity. Drastic action has to be taken by government, local communities and individuals, and there’s absolutely no magic or overnight pill for this menace. What is needed is a major shift in norms and eating habits. A lot of emphasis must also be placed on enhanced physical activity to reduce the numbers of the overweight. Here are the 5 major recommendations for effectively combating obesity.

1. A widespread and all-inclusive approach needs to be done to help individuals make healthy choices, and support also has to come from both schools, families, communities, employers, food and beverage companies as well as government.

2. The American Academy Of Pediatrics Has also advocated that physicians must also pay extra attention to the physical activity of their child patients. They also need to promote a child’s physical activity level, as well as provide education and better health supervision, and find ways to reduce the amount of sedentary activities at home or in school.

3. Federal, state and local governments must collaborate with private employers and insures to make sure that a comprehensive wellness program is in place in offices and companies.

4. More research should be done to effectively promote healthier habits.

5. A national strategy to combat obesity must also be implemented by the Federal Government.

Despite some of measures being currently implemented by government and the private sector, obesity both among adults and children continues to rise at an alarming pace. It’s important the adults and children eat a balanced diet and maintain a healthy and active lifestyle, so that they could contribute to halting the spread of this dreadful health epidemic.

The Diet Industry in books, fitness videos and motivational speakers are often our inspirations in getting ourselves in shape. But there has been a growing murmur among concerned individuals about how they are actually contributing to the ever growing obesity epidemic. Read on and find out how the diet industry has contributed to this.

Point 1 – Fad Diets

Diets have become like fashion nowadays. New diets seem to pop out every few months, they have become seasonal. Often people talk about this winter’s hottest diet or fall’s secret celebrity diet. Worse we get thousands of articles about diets based on movies. A good example of this would be the movie 300. It has spawned several books on dieting and fitness.

Fad diets are bad for everyone except those who stand to profit on them. The entire diet book industry should stop releasing one book after the other to stop confusing people. If you’ve ever went to the bookstore you will find dozens of books on the Atkins Diet.

This diet has been given a new twist every year! It was actually originally written decades ago. Acai berry diets have also stormed the dieting world recently and we still have not made progress on our waist lines. A good solid diet that you stick to is the only thing needed for curing obesity.

Point 2 – Encourage Dieting instead of Lifestyle Changes

The Dieting industry knows that only lifestyle changes can permanently let people live healthier lifestyles. Even the most rigid and motivated people will eventually lose out their old habits. This is evident on the alarming fact that most people on the show The Biggest Loser eventually gain their weight back.

Because we are driven to sacrifice a few weeks to reach our goal we never really adopt changes that last long. There are very few books that focus on lifestyle changes seriously. Even authors can’t wait to write the next bestselling book (best selling because it is written to make people feel good rather than convince people to adopt a healthier lifestyle).

Point 3 – Money driven

The truth is the diet industry as a whole is a billion dollar industry that has been growing as fast as America’s waist line. If it is such as successful industry then why has America gotten fatter? Have you ever thought about that?

The fact is the diet industry is selling dreams and not solutions for the obesity epidemic. These are like the self-help book and get rich quick books of old. This industry can only grow even larger if even more people buy into the dreams this industry offer.

Authors are seldom to blame because their intentions are only to help and earn while doing it. But the way the industry as a whole is moving raises a lot of questions on its responsibilities. After all the billions they’ve earned one would think that they should be the prime entity in solving the obesity epidemic.

Take matters into your own hands. Empower yourself to become solely responsible for your health. Lose weight by investing in a Power Cage the foundation of all home gyms and exercise programs. Check out why people are buying the BodyCraft F430 Power Cage to improve their health and fitness.
