How to Manage Your Sweet Tooth

If you are able to control your cravings for sweets, there is a very good chance you can control the growth of your midsection as well. One of the best ways to cure your sweet tooth is to eat regular, meals throughout the day. This helps to steady your blood sugar level and reduce sweet-tooth cravings. This type of “grazing”, where eating a healthy meal or snack every few hours will work wonders on keeping those blood sugar levels in check, thus reducing your insulin surges and fat storage in the process.

Keep Cravings in Check
• Plan your meals especially if you are going to work … always pack enough food/snacks for your work day
• Try not to go longer than 3 hours without eating.
• If hungry, have a healthy snack in-between meals
• Don’t be tempted to eat sweets/candy instead of your meals. Eat your meal first then have a low fat dessert (e.g. low fat ice-cream).
• If you feel the urge for something sweet, drink 8 oz of water, floss and brush your teeth

Great Snacks Ideas:
* 2 eggs with yolks + 1 slice of whole wheat bread (no butter)
* Light yogurt + 1 tbsp. Natural peanut butter
* “Open face” sandwich with meat, veggies, light mayo
* AdvoCare Meal Replacement Shake
* ½ cup brown rice (cooked) + 3 oz. chicken breast
* ½ cup oatmeal (no milk, butter or sugar) + 1 scoop Protein Powder
* 3 oz. tuna fish (packed in water) + 2 small whole grain crackers
* 3 oz. ground turkey breast + ½ cup whole grain pasta
* 2 hard boiled eggs + low fat mayo + mustard + 1 piece whole wheat bread
* 25 raw almonds + ½ piece of fruit
* 1 small apple + ½ cup low-fat cottage cheese

With minimal preparation and thought, just about anyone can implement the above tips and snacks into their daily routine. It is minor adjustments like this that make the healthy eating option realistic. Fad diets are not only unhealthy, but they more often than not, fail to create long-term weight management.

We have one goal, help as many individuals as possible get in shape and learn about proper nutrition, including supplementation and vitamin and mineral intake. The first step to weight loss is recognizing the issue and seeking help. Many people feel embarrassed by their weight, and instead of asking for help, they continue down the same path, which inevitably leads to a lower quality of life, health problems and shorter life spans.
