Treatments for Anorexia – the Two Types of Anorexia Nervosa That We Must Know Before Treating Them

Anorexia Nervosa has been a problem by men and women around the world. This problem has been triggered by psychological factors, such as depression, insecurity and being an obsessive compulsive person specifically being a perfectionist.

So how do we deal with such sickness? how do we cure it? Before knowing how to treat this sickness, we should know what kind of Anorexia Nervosa you have. There are two types of Anorexia Nervosa that we must know before we treat them;

1. Restricting Type -

This type of anorexia is achieving weight loss through restricting calories. Restricting anorexics follow drastic diets, counts calories while eating or when they are planning to eat, they exercise excessively and are not contented with the results of their exercise. Restricting anorexics find dieting very important and they practice unsual food behaviors. This type of anorexia problem often occurs to women during their mid-adolescent age (15-20), and for men it happens when they are 25-32 years old.

2. Purging Type -

This is the other type of anorexic problem. The people who suffer this type of problem vomits after eating the food that they eat. Like the restricting type, they consider weight loss is important and vital to their means of livng. Losing weight makes them happy, and when they feel that they are full, they are usually depressed and if they can’t vomit, they will use Laxatives and Diuretics. Purging type of anorexics also do excessive exercise and also have unusual food behaviors, they commonly happen to adolescent men and women at the age of 13-20.
