Worst Abs Workout For Women – Tips You Will Want to Hear – Avoid These at All Costs
Did you know that there is a certain ab workout for women that does not make ab muscles stronger, in fact it breaks them down? And that there are actually several such exercise routines? Here are tips you will want to hear about ab workouts for women you need to avoid at all costs.
1. Straight leg sit-ups.
Have ever known anyone whose back “just went out?” The truth is, back injuries are usually cumulative. Probably the single worst ab workout for women is the sit-ups done without the knees bent (and it’s dangerous for men, too).
Relieve pressure on the back-which you aren’t trying to tone up, anyway-by bending your knees. And never do more than 50 sit-ups a week, in two sessions of 25. You can’t get washboard abs by doing the same exercise over and over again. You can, however, injure your spine by doing more than 50 sit-ups a week.
2. Straight leg raise.
To do a straight leg raise, you lie down on the floor and lift your leg up, and gently lower it to the floor. It tightens your abs, but it puts a lot of pressure on the spine for relatively little benefit to the abs and hip. The danger to your spine is simply too great for the benefit to your abs.
3. Bent-leg situps.
Bent-leg situps put less stress on the spine than straight-leg situps. But even a single bent-leg sit-up puts enough stress on the spine to cause spinal injury. Straight-leg sit-ups, of course, are worse.
4. Hanging straight leg raise.
To do a hanging straight let raise, you lie down on the floor, lift your leg up, and hold it in the air for 15 to 30 seconds. This exercise is no more dangerous for your spine than the straight leg raise, but it has no additional benefits, either. Just say no to the hanging straight leg raise.
5. Curl-ups.
You do curl-ups by lying down on the floor, bending your knees, placing your hands behind your head, and the stretching your torso as far forward as it can go. Curl-ups don’t pose a lot of risk to the spine, but they don’t do much for your abs, either. Whether done with feet fixed or flexible, they simply are not worth the risk to your back.
